Premier League Preview: Chelsea Vs Manchester United

Premier League match time returns to Stamford Bridge, when Chelsea host Manchester United, in a first leg game on Tuesday, March 1, a match that was originally scheduled to be played on December 19, and got postponed owing to inclement weather.

Chelsea's match against Fulham was meant to be all about Torres, who replaced Drogba in the starting eleven as the prime striker for the Stamford Bridge squad. While preferring Torres to Drogba gave Chelsea greater control in midfield. Fulham were resolute as ever in defence, and Chelsea failed to convert the half-chances they had to show for all of their superior possession.

David Lutz used the game to showboat his considerable skills. The Brazilian had more creativity than the whole midfield combined, and his only flaw was a lunge on Dempsey in injury time that resulted in a penalty for Fulham that Dempsey himself took. And Cech made a brilliant save to prevent Lutz's solitary error from taking away from his great performance. The loss of two points has made Chelsea's title defence an impossible mirage.

In their game against Wigan in match week 28, United were off-colour, till Hernandez put them ahead, on 17 minutes. During the interim, Wigan created a few scoring chances, and the Old Trafford squad have Van der Sar to thank for not allowing Wigan to convert any of them.

Rooney was lucky that he didn't get sent off for what looked like a deliberate elbowing of James McCarthy, in the 10th minute. The iconic striker had a hand in 3 of the 4 goals, the third of which he scored. The first goal transpired after his pass to Nani (absolutely brilliant on the day) on the right flank was relayed to Hernandez who converted. Hernandez got a second goal on 74 minutes; Rooney made it 3-0 on 84 minutes, and three minutes later, Fabio completed the tally with United's fourth goal of the game. The result has put United 4 points clear of Arsenal at the top of the table, and 15 points adrift of Chelsea, who are in 5th place..

Head to head, of the last league games between Chelsea and Manchester United, the Stamford Bridge squad have won 3, while United have won 2, with the remaining game drawn.

In their last 6 league games, Chelsea have registered 3 wins, 2 losses and a draw, while Manchester United have 5 of their last 6 matches, while losing the remaining one. Chelsea have won 8 of 12 home games this season, while losing and drawing 2 each. Manchester United have 4 an lost 1, while drawing the remaining 8 of 13 games on the road.

In their last Premier League match, Chelsea drew 0-0 away at Fulham, while Manchester United's last match, away at Wigan, ended 4-0 in their favour.

In the defending champions, Manchester United can expect tougher opponents than cellar team Wigan. But on current form, it would be a steep challenge for Chelsea to take away full three points from Tuesday's game.

Chelsea's starting eleven against Fulham comprised: Cech, Ivanovic, David Lutz, Terry, Cole, Ramires, Essien, Lampard, Anelka, Torres and Malouda. Drogba and Kalou featured as substitutes.

Manchester United had the following players in their starting eleven against Wigan: Van der Sar, O'Shea, Smalling, Vidic, Evra, Fletcher, Carrick, Scholes, Nani, Hernandez and Rooney. Berbatov, Da Silva and Gibson were used as substitutes.

Premier League Match Time: Manchester United Vs Arsenal

It's Premier League match time at Old Trafford as Manchester United host Arsenal on Monday, December 13.

Sir Alex's squad's game against Blackpool in match week 16 was called after due to inclement weather. Bloomfield Road is not equipped with under-soil heaters that are present at the other grounds, hosting Premier League matches, thereby allowing those games to go on as scheduled.

Following Chelsea's 1-1 stalemate against Everton in match week 16, United are second on the Premiership table, a point behind Arsenal, and even a draw in the game against Blackpool had it transpired would have taken the Red Devils to the top of the table.

With Ferdinand and Rooney back recovered from injury, the Old Trafford squad is looking much more balanced, and that's an ominous sign for their rivals.

Arsenal are coming off a 2-1 win against Fulham in match week 16 that highlighted Gunner's strength in attack as well as weakness in defence.

Nasri was absolutely brilliant and combined with Arshavin to torment the Fulham back-line. But Arsenal Wenger must worry about his own back-line's patent ineptitude in the absence of Vermaelen. Nasri's magical brace meant that Fabregas became inconspicuous by his absence, and the France national team's manager Domenech must be wondering how he left Nasri out of his squad for the World Cup in South Africa.

But take away Nasri and Fulham might have won the match, with several scoring opportunities created. Such was the shambolic defence of the Gunners that Squillaci and Koscileny decided on putting their heads together (literally) going for the same aerial ball, and even as Squillaci lay on the ground holding his head, Kamara, unmarked, grabbed a pass from Dempsey to get Fulham level on 1-1, on 30 minutes.

Head-to-head, in 182 league meetings between the sides, United hold a 74-66 advantage with 42 games drawn. The sides have met 36 times in the Premier League, and Sir Alex's squad lead 15-10, with the remaining 11 games ending in stalemates. Interestingly, 11 of those wins for United came at Old Trafford, in 19 games at the venue. The last Premier League game between the teams, at the Emirates in January 2010, ended 3-1 in Red Devils' favour.

United's home record this season has been brilliant; they have won 7 of 8 games hosted, with one match drawn. Arsenal's away record has been among the best of all teams, and they have lost just one away game (to Chelsea) while winning 5 and drawing the remaining 2.

Fabregas hopes to return to squad for the game against United, and Wenger must be praying that the Spaniard is match fit in time. Without Fabregas, the Gunners will hand control of the midfield to Manchester United and with Arsenal's shambolic back-line, I cannot see how they could keep the rampaging United forward line in check.

Manchester United's starting eleven against Blackburn in match week 15 comprised Van der Sar, Da Silva, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Carrick, Anderson, Park, Berbatov and Rooney. The substitutes were Evans and Obertan.

Arsenal had the following men in their starting eleven against Fulham: Fabianski, Sagna, Koscielny, Squillaci,Clichy, Song, Wilshere, Nasri, Rosicky, Arshavin and Chamakh. The following players were used as substitutes: Djourou, van Persie and Walcott.

Champions League Final Preview - Manchester United Vs Barcelona

On the 27 May, Manchester United will battle with Barcelona in the final of this season UEFA Champions League at Rome's Stadio Olimpico. Both teams have the credential and fire power to become this season European Champion. Manchester United can become the first team in 19 years to retain the trophy they won last year. Ac Milan was the last team to win back-to-back European Champion Club's Cup (the name for the previous version of UEFA Champions League) in 1989 and 1990.

Both teams will be missing key players in the final through suspension and injury. Barcelona will be without Eric Abidal and Daniel Alves. Abidal was red carded in the second-leg semifinal against Chelsea, while Alves received his third yellow cards of the tournament in London. Darren Fletcher of Manchester United will miss the final after collecting a red card for a foul on Cesc Fabregas in the second-leg semifinal against Arsenal. Barcelona Rafael Marques is definitely rule out of the final due to injury on his left knee. However, Andreas Iniesta and Theiry Henry look set to miss out as well. Iniesta picked up a thigh injury in his side's 3-3 draw at home to Villarreal. Henry is fighting to be fit after picking up a ligament injury in the game against Real Madrid.

Pep Guardiola, Barcelona's manager, faces some difficult selection choice in defence due to injury and suspension. Alex Ferguson has fewer headaches among the two managers as he has almost a full squad at his disposal. Daren Fletcher being the only set back but he has enough quality in his squad to replace Fletcher.

This game will also feature a battle between two of the best footballer in the world at the moment, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Messi has been the key factor for the rise of Barcelona this season. Ronaldo maintained his momentum from last season to help Manchester United in winning several trophies this season. But for this season, the ultimate prize which both really wants is the UEFA Champions League.

EPL 2011-12 Preview: Swansea Vs Manchester United

Swansea City play host on Saturday, November 19, 2011, in match week 12, when Manchester United come visiting, at Liberty stadium.

Swansea are coming off a creditable 0-0 stalemate against Liverpool at Anfield, in match week 11. Swansea shared enough possession in the game but without troubling the Liverpool back-line, unduly. Dyer staged a right-to-left run in the 64th minute but he squandered a scoring opportunity after collecting a through ball. With six minutes left, Graham knocked down the ball in front of the Liverpool goal but Mark Gower failed to keep the ball down, and Swansea missed out on what would have been a historic win for the promoted side.

Manchester United edged out Sunderland in a lacklustre home game, at Old Trafford, in match week 11. In a match unforgettable except for coinciding with Sir Alex's 25th anniversary at the helm, United's win was built on Wes Brown's own goal, at the interval. While dominated possession, in the first half, they rarely tested Westwood, in the Sunderland goal. While Hernandez had a glimpse of goal in the second half, after being put through by Fletcher, the Bulgarian striker blew the chance by going down a bit too easily, in the face of a charge by Larrson, in the Black Cats' area. Referee Lee mason wasn't impressed with the penalty claim that ensued. Kieron Richardson denied United the chance of a second goal in the 64th minute when he thwarted efforts from Nani and Hernandez, within a minute of each other.

Head to head, Swansea and Manchester United have met in 8 league games, with United triumphing on 6 occasions, with the remaining matches ending in stalemates. The last time these teams met was in may 1983, in the English first division; that match hosted at Old Trafford was won 2-1 by Manchester United.

Swansea have won 3 and lost 3 of their last 8 league matches, while United have won 3, drawn 2 and lost one of their last 6 league games.

Currently in a creditable 10th place on the league table after being promoted from the Championship this season, Swansea have hosted 5 home games, this season, and won 3 and drawn 2 of them, while Manchester United, who are in 2nd place behind Manchester City have had 3 wins and 2 draws in 5 games on the road.

United have lost steam since the brilliant beginning to their Premiership season. But Sir Alex's wards carry enough firepower to be able to take away all three points from Liberty Stadium, come match week 12.

Swansea City's starting eleven against Liverpool: Vorm, Rangel, Monk, Williams, Taylor, Gower, Britton, Allen, Routledge, Graham, Dyer.

Manchester United's starting eleven against Sunderland: Lindegaard, Jones, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Fletcher, Rooney, Park, Wellbeck, Hernandez.
